Shona Sloan – COMMUNITY FLOOD SUPPORT MANAGER
My role as Community Flood Support Manager brings me in daily contact with flood impacted individuals and communities across Scotland. I see first hand the devastation, trauma and anxiety flooding can cause. I work with agencies, partners and directly within communities providing advice and support to victims of flooding, this could be a listening ear or more general advice in the immediate aftermath and ongoing recovery.
As flooding continues to be one of the biggest climate related risks in Scotland, my role also looks at how we can support more people impacted by flooding now and in the future. Utilising the valued feedback we receive, to not only improve how we work but also sharing across the sector, with the aim of working together to be more informed, better prepared and when flooding occurs, help those in need recover quicker.
Throughout my career, mostly within the charity sector, I have always held roles with a focus on people and community. Working with the Scottish Flood Forum brings me closer than ever before with this rewarding role, where helping people is at its core.
