Kirsty MacRae – Property Flood Resilience Delivery Group Coordinator
As Coordinator of the Property Flood Resilience Delivery Group, I am supporting a group to deliver a range of actions to help raise awareness and “mainstreaming” of measures that can be taken to stop water entering properties in the event of flooding (resistance measures) or that can help speed up the drying out and re-instatement of a building after flooding (resilience measures).
Before this, I had the privilege of working as Director of the Scottish Flood Forum for six years, during which time I saw first hand the impact of flooding and the long and difficult journey so many have to face in drying out their homes and repairing them – sometimes only for the house to be flooded again. This is why I know that whilst Property Flood Resilience is only part of the solution, it is an important measure that all flood risk communities, and those supporting them, need to have available to them.
Previously, I worked on flood risk management in Scotland for many years in my role as Programme Manager in Sniffer and prior to that spent 9 years working for a water company in Kent in a number of roles including Head of Environmental Regulation and Hydrogeologist. Much of my earlier role included liaising with SEPA and Local Authorities and developing partnership projects through stakeholder engagement and events.
