Scottish Flood Forum invited to speak at Irish national conference (25/11/17)
In November, Kirsty MacRae was invited to speak at the annual Irish National Flood Forum conference , held in Athlone, County Westmeath. The conference attendees included Irish ministers, Office of Public Works officials and many community representatives with talks from Minister Moran, minister with responsibility for flooding and Liesbeth van Riet Papp from Rijkwaterstaat in the Netherlands.
Kirsty talked about the work of the Scottish Flood Forum, how it is set up and governed and gave a flavour of the kind of issues we face. There was a great deal of interest from the conference floor about the partnerships we build with communities and with local authorities and how an independent third party organisation can be an invaluable facilitator in building trust and links across different communities and organisations. Kirsty’s full talk is available below.
